About this Hike
Ah, Angels Landing. It used to be a modestly-popular hike deemed “too dangerous” by many. Then, it turned into one of the most popular hikes in the country – now requiring permits – and became synonymous with almost any conversation about hiking. Despite the annoying crowds on Angels Landing, I still love this adrenaline-filled jaunt across Zion Canyon.
Angels Landing is famous for its half-mile-long traverse along a towering rock fin leading to its summit. On this traverse, chains installed in the rock help you keep your balance as you navigate narrow walkways with 1,000-foot drops on either side of you. It’s exhilarating and frightening, and the beautiful scenery of Zion Canyon surrounds you as you scramble your way to the hike’s summit.
There’s not much I can say about Angels Landing that hasn’t been said already. Be prepared for the hike’s dizzying traverse, wear shoes with good traction, and don’t forget to nab a permit. Good luck, watch your step, and have fun!
