Gateway Arch Review
Natural Beauty
By default, Gateway Arch does not earn any points for natural beauty since the entire park consists of manmade structures and handplanted trees.
Things to Do
There is enough to do at Gateway Arch to keep first-time visitors busy for a full day. Experiential and educational activities abound in the historical landmark.
Accessibility
Due to its proximity to downtown St. Louis, Gateway Arch is very easy to get to and is fully wheelchair accessible. This is the one category where it gets full points.
Wildlife
Visitors can spot birds flying around the area and potentially squirrels around the lakes or on trash cans, but there is no wildlife to be found other than that.
Escapism
Since Gateway Arch is located in the heart of downtown St. Louis, it is impossible to get a true “escapist” feeling in the national park.
Personal Experience
Having spent most of my life living in St. Louis, Gateway Arch has always had a special place in my heart. But why – oh why – is it a national park?
